This Fall 2009 I'm teaching Counseling 122
Course Description: Counseling 122 is an introductory course in helping skills and interview techniques for paraprofessionals, volunteers, and students working in the Human Services Field. Students will learn basic communication skills to effectively support and guide persons who need assistance from social, educational and health service systems. Sensitivity and awareness of the client’s diverse needs during an interview will be emphasized. In addition, students will address their own personal growth through the awareness of their communication styles and interpersonal skills. The course transfers as an elective to the CSU system.
